Steve is a Dayton native and graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1975. He began his career with his father at Brown & Head Associates, which eventually became Brown Associates Architects, Inc. and later, Brown & Bills Group. He is a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, and is registered in six states. Steve has been active in the Dayton community, serving as Chair of a number of organizations including Leadership Dayton Association, Ronald McDonald House, Kiwanis Club of Dayton, Woodland Arboretum Foundation, and as a board member of others including Aviation Trail, Society of American Military Engineers, AAA Miami Valley, Antioch Foundation and Dayton Masonic Foundation. Steve has also been a licensed pilot since he was 14 years old.
A native of Delaware, Ohio and the son of a fire chief and carpenter, Dave developed an understanding for the construction process and the importance of the life safety code as he worked with his dad during college. He attended Ohio State University, earning his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Architecture in 1977. Following graduation, he worked for firms in New Haven, CT and Washington, DC. He moved back to Ohio and worked for several firms in Columbus and Dayton. Dave established his own firm in 1994 and merged with Stephen P. Brown Architects in 1995 to form Brown & Bills Architects, Inc. He is a registered architect, a LEED Accredited Professional B+C, and is also an accredited member of the American College of Health Care Architects. In addition, Dave is a past President of the American Institute of Architects Dayton (AIA) for 2015 and also earned his MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2008.
A native of Miamisburg, Ohio, Erin attended Archbishop Alter High School and the University of Detroit Mercy, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture. After graduation, she was hired by a firm in Greenville, SC and worked primarily on high-end residential and commercial projects. She decided to pursue her occupational dream by earning a Master’s of Science in Historic Preservation from the joint Master’s program at Clemson University and College of Charleston. During her tenure, Erin had the opportunity to work for the National Park Service in Frederick, Maryland. She moved back to Dayton and joined the Brown & Bills team in 2012 and has worked on a variety of commercial and senior living projects. Her recent projects include Montgomery County Board of Elections Building renovation, Riverview Health Care Campus of Ottawa County, Ohio, and an exterior renovation of 10 Wilmington Place Retirement Community in Dayton, Ohio. Erin is currently the Treasurer for the Junior League of Dayton. She also sits on the City of Dayton Landmarks Commission.
A graduate of Vandalia-Butler High School and Miami University, Associate Architect John Tatone is currently in the second year of the Master’s Program at the Boston Architecture College. He has worked for several firms in Chicago and Dayton and plans to take the Architectural Registration Exam (ARE) after he graduates to become a registered architect. His recent projects include an exterior renovation for the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) Building in downtown Dayton, a medical office renovation for Slemker Properties in Englewood, Ohio, design for Wandering Griffen Brew Pub across from Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio, and an amphitheater project for Epiphany Lutheran Church in Centerville, Ohio. He is currently developing a rest stop prototype for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) in several Ohio counties, as well as completing design work for a number of Lee’s Famous Recipe franchises around the country.
Associate Architect Shathra Alazzawi, has been with Brown & Bills Architects for over a year. A native of Iraq, Shathra graduated from the Arab International University in Damascus, Syria, with a BS in Architectural Engineering before landing her first design job in Ankara, Turkey. She moved to the United States in 2014 and completed several Revit courses at Sinclair Community College. Shathara plans to attend graduate school and take the ARE exam to become a registered architect. Her recent projects include a bird’s eye view video rendering of the Triumph of Flight for the Wright Image Group, design work on Riverview Health Care Campus in Ottawa County and several custom residential projects.
Director of Business Development and Marketing
Chris graduated from Chaminade-Julienne High School and Bowling Green State University, and currently serves as Project Manager. He spent 3 years with the bb Building Group construction team learning carpentry skills and modular building systems installation. Chris assists with proposal writing, contract administration, project coordination, and scheduling. He is involved with several professional organizations including the Dayton Region Manufacturers Association (DRMA), 70/75 Development Association, The Miami Valley Long Term Care Association, Cincinnati-Dayton Seniors, Greater Cincinnati Society of Marketing for Professional Services, Habitat for Humanity, and the Alzheimer’s Association.
